Our paella catering in East Sussex
Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That’s exactly what we bring to your event in East Sussex. Popular choices include vegan paella, chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella, and we are often booked for family celebrations and christenings and company summer parties.
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day.
- You share your date, numbers and venue.
- We plan a menu that covers every diet.
- We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
- The paella cooks as guests gather round.
- Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.
Pricing in East Sussex
Compared with a plated meal, live paella is often good value, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We’ll send you a quote.

Landmarks near Eastbourne
In Eastbourne, that can mean a party near St Andrew, Princes Park and Stafford Junior School and the streets around them. Also close by are The King's Arms Public House (0.9 miles south-east), WMG Academy for Young Engineers (1.5 miles south-west) and Ratton School (1.1 miles west). Eastbourne’s nearest station is Hampden Park station, about 0.7 miles north-west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Pevensey Castle (3 miles north-east) and Royal Sussex Regimental Museum (1 mile south-east). Green spaces nearby include Combe Hill.
Planning live paella in East Sussex
East Sussex covers everything from Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea to 240 small villages and hamlets, and live paella suits every kind of setting. In towns, plan parking and access; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground. Parts of East Sussex are within a few miles of the High Weald National Landscape and the South Downs National Park, so check venue rules on vehicles and cooking for countryside events. Around 106 places in East Sussex are close to the coast, where we always plan shelter from the wind, and seafood paella is popular.
Eastbourne: Parks such as Princes Park usually need the owner’s permission for cooking, so ask before you plan a party there. For guests coming by train, Hampden Park station is about 0.7 miles away. In Eastbourne, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.
Planning for every diet
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:
- Tell us what else is being served
- Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
- Give us separate numbers for children
On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.
Need plates or staff? We can provide them.
Before you choose a spot
We’ll be honest if a space won’t work, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:
- Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
- Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
Dishes our guests love
Black rice
Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.
Seafood paella
Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, finished with lemon wedges. It is the pan people photograph.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Vans serve one order at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time.
Questions to ask before you book
- When payment is due
- What happens if it rains
- Travel and parking costs
- Plates, cutlery and napkins, or disposables
Should I cook it myself?
Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
Common questions in East Sussex
Do you provide drinks?
Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.
How much space do you need?
Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. If in doubt, send a photo.
What about pudding?
We can add a dessert. Let us know if you’d like one in your enquiry.
Do you do vegan paella?
Of course. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans.
Can you cook indoors?
Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.
Do you bring everything you need?
We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You just need a suitable spot and access.
How soon do we need to book?
As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.
