Live paella catering in Battle

Paella catering for your event in Battle

There is something generous about paella: big pans, bright colours and a crispy base everyone wants a spoonful of. It makes the food an event in itself. We are frequently asked to cater leaving dos and retirements and office lunches and staff parties, with paella Valenciana, black rice and vegetable paella.

A place like Battle frequently has a hall, a club or a pub garden nearby; live paella can work at any of them, given permission and outdoor space. You can add tapas, desserts, sangria, bar staff and waiting staff, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Diets, allergies and planning

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Ask for labels on each pan

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue doesn’t provide them.

Events we cater in Battle

It suits relaxed, sociable events, with guests mingling as it cooks and then sit down to share.

Whatever the occasion, live paella can be the centrepiece. We regularly cater:

  • Birthday celebrations
  • Staff parties and work lunches
  • Festivals, fairs and school events

If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Battle and Langton Church of England Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser.

The process

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in Battle until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the cooking spot.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Tell us when you want to eat

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Why choose live paella in Battle?

Plated meals need a kitchen and a bigger team. Live paella needs only a level, ventilated spot and permission to cook, and gives guests something to watch. Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before booking.

Why choose Love Paella in Battle

  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch

Dishes our guests love

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella is not an afterthought: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron, cooked in its own pan.

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Battle questions

Is Battle close to London?

About 47 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Can you cook at venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.

Can you serve drinks?

We can make sangria, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

How much space do you need?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a photo if you are not sure.

Do you do starters?

Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.

Are premium seafood options available?

We will talk through seafood options when we plan your menu, including premium options if you want them.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
