How our paella catering works in Berwick

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Whether it is naming days and family parties and staff parties and work lunches, we will put together a menu of vegan paella, chicken and chorizo paella and vegetable paella for your guests.

In a small place like Berwick, events are generally in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. The paella is served straight from the pan, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once it is ready.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we time it carefully. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further.

How we price paella catering

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • Guest numbers
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Parking and unloading

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.

What we need to know

These details help us quote quickly:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • A picture of where we’d cook

It is easy to get a price: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We will come back with a clear quote.

12 questions to ask before you book

DIY paella versus live catering

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Vans serve one order at a time. A paella pan serves many portions quickly, which suits weddings and parties where everyone eats together. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

Why book with us

  • Sangria and bar staff available
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan

See How we price Or The cost guide.

How it works

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Planning an evening event in Berwick? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:15pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Getting ready for the day

  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

Planning help

Your questions about paella catering in Berwick

Do you cater in the South Downs National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Is Berwick too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, where your guests can watch.

Do you cater for young children?

Yes. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Should we have more than one paella?

Generally two or three, so every guest has a choice. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Do you cook inside?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.

Do you bring everything you need?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You provide a suitable spot and access.
