Working with your venue

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

Paella catering in Bodle Street Green, made fresh on the day

Almost any venue with a level, ventilated spot will do: gardens, marquees, barns, courtyards and festival fields. Typical bookings include garden get-togethers and wedding breakfasts and evening food, with black rice, vegetable paella and paella Valenciana.

For a rural spot like Bodle Street Green, the countryside is part of the appeal: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. The paella is served straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.

Paella compared with other options

Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked live and served hot. Travel, parking and access can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before booking.

Why us?

  • Paella cooked from scratch on site
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • Drinks service on request

The process

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. Any tapas or canapés are served first as the rice is cooking. Around midsummer it stays light in Bodle Street Green until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.

Planning help

Planning for every diet

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Ensure each pan is labelled
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Put allergy details in writing

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Sangria and bar staff can be added to serve drinks you provide.

About the dishes

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together, and it’s often the first pan to empty.

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • The number of people
  • Parking and unloading
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

What to tell us

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The venue or postcode
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts

We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, send us your details through our quote form.

Questions from Bodle Street Green

Can you cook at venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.

Is Bodle Street Green too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes, and it is a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Is paella a full meal?

It’s a full meal on its own. Tapas and desserts can be added if you like.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a photo if you’re not sure.

How soon do we need to book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates book up first, so it pays to ask early.

Do you cook inside?

Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.

Is live paella good for a large crowd?

Yes. Big pans feed a lot of people, and service from the pan is quick.
