Is live paella right for your event?
Next to a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate pans. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We’ll send you a quote.

What’s in the pans
Black rice
Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea.
Mixed paella
Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together, and it is often the first pan to empty.
DIY paella versus live catering
DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
Why choose paella catering in Buxted?
There is no kitchen needed, so it works in gardens, fields and marquees where other catering struggles.
Big or small, live paella works well. Typical bookings include:
- Garden get-togethers
- Engagement and anniversary parties
- Big birthdays
- Fairs, fêtes and festivals
For guests coming by train, Buxted has its own station, Buxted station.
Before you book anyone

- How each diet is kept separate
- Travel and parking costs

Catering for every guest
Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:
- Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
- Ensure each pan is labelled
- Send allergies to us in writing
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we serve when guests are ready.
Bread, salad and lemon go well alongside.
Space, weather and the venue
Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
- Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

How it works
When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. In Buxted, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- Send us your date, numbers and venue.
- We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
- We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
- The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
- We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.
Before we arrive
- Have a level space ready for the pans
- Name one person we can ask on the day
- Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
