Paella compared with other options
A plated wedding breakfast needs a kitchen and a large team. Paella needs a level, ventilated spot and permission, and feels more relaxed. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

Wedding paella catering for your wedding in Buxted
Sharing from big pans suits relaxed weddings, especially with long tables and outdoor venues. It feels generous and celebratory. We’re often asked to cater evening wedding food and destination-style celebrations at home, with Spanish desserts, canapé tapas and evening paella.
There is something special about a country wedding near Buxted, and an open-air paella adds to it. Plan access and cover in case of rain. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, not reheated, and served the moment it is ready.

How we price wedding paella catering
Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:
- Whether you need crockery
- How many guests are eating
- How many staff you need
- Travel, parking and access
If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will put together a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.
What to tell us
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:
- The courses you’d like
- Expected numbers
- What the venue already provides
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, use our quote form.
Buxted: your questions answered
What’s the nearest station to Buxted for guests?
Buxted has its own station: Buxted station.
Do you cater in the High Weald National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.
Do you cater for vegetarian guests?
Of course. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans.
What if our speeches run late?
We adapt. We stay in touch with your coordinator and time the rice so it is served at its best.
Do you work with our venue?
Yes. We’ll speak to your venue about access and timings.
How soon do we need to book?
Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.
What about pudding?
We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.
How much is live paella catering?
The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Send us the details for a quote.
Working with your venue
Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
Catering for every guest
Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:
- Introduce us to your venue coordinator
- Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
- Decide whether guests queue at the pans or are served at the tables
- Ask whether your venue allows outside caterers
Guests can queue at the pans, or staff can serve the tables.
Sangria and bar staff can be added.
Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.
Where we can cook in Buxted
We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:
- Level ground for the pans and burners
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
- Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
Popular choices
- Paella wedding breakfast
- Dessert
- Sangria & bar staff
- Evening paella
- Table tapas
- Canapé tapas
How it works
We get there well before serving, set up the cooking area and get the stock going. Guests normally gather round to watch as the paella takes shape. In Buxted, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is usually served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.
- First, we check your date.
- You pick the courses and dishes.
- We confirm everything with your venue.
- Guests watch the paella cook during the reception.
- We serve, then pack down.
Getting ready for the day
- Let us know who to talk to on the day
- Ensure we can park close by to unload
- Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
