Paella catering in Telham

About our paella catering in Telham

Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked in the open in a big, shallow pan and shared straight from it. That’s exactly what we bring to your event in Telham. We cook vegan paella, chicken and chorizo paella and paella Valenciana, and we are regularly asked to cater retirement celebrations and company summer parties.

In a hamlet or village like Telham, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan.

Planning the cooking area

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

What we offer

  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Vegetable paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Mixed paella
  • Vegan paella
  • Paella Valenciana
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

Is live paella right for your event?

A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked in front of your guests and served hot. The cost per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Why Telham hosts choose us

  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Everything cooked fresh at your event
  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them

The process

Service is quick: we serve straight from the pan, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. In Telham, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, rather than seafood. It is frequently the most popular pan at an event.

How we price paella catering

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • How long we are needed on site
  • The number of people
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What to tell us

These details help us quote quickly:

  • The date and rough timings
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • What the venue already provides

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will suggest a menu. Start when you are ready: send us your details through our quote form.

Common questions in Telham

Which station should guests use for Telham?

The closest is Battle station, roughly 0.8 miles away.

Is Telham too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

What happens with live paella?

We cook from scratch at your venue in big pans, in front of your guests, and serve straight from the pan.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

How much paella per person?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will suggest a split based on your guests.

Which paella is most popular?

Most events choose two or three: chicken or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. Our menu lists the options.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.
