Paella catering in Hooe Common, made fresh on the day
Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked in the open in a big, shallow pan and shared straight from it. That is exactly what we bring to your event in Hooe Common. For big birthdays and weddings and evening receptions, we can cook vegan paella, seafood paella and mixed paella and more.
Somewhere as small as Hooe Common, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Your questions about paella catering in Hooe Common
We’re having a ceremony at The Parish Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
Can you cook in Highwoods?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.
How long does the paella take?
We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.
What does paella catering cost?
The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we will send a quote.
Can you bring crockery?
Yes, if you need them. Tell us what your venue provides and we’ll include the rest in the quote.
Can you do sangria?
Sangria, yes. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.
What equipment do you bring?
We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You just need a suitable spot and access.
Do you take everything away?
We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.
How the day works
We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it’s served at its best. Around midsummer it stays light in Hooe Common until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Dishes our guests love
Seafood paella
Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s usually the most photographed pan.
Black rice
Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Dietary needs and planning tips
Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:
- Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
- Count adults and children separately
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
- Make sure most guests can sit to eat
Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that is when we invite guests up.
Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.
