Paella catering for Crumbles events

Paella catering in Crumbles, made fresh on the day

Live paella catering means we bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients to your event and cook in front of your guests. Once it’s ready, we serve it hot from the pan. We are frequently asked to cater birthday celebrations and engagement and anniversary parties, serving paella Valenciana, vegan paella and black rice.

In a small place like Crumbles, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, never made in advance and reheated, and served as soon as it is ready.

How it works

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, unload, set up the burners and prepare the stock. Guests normally gather round to watch while it cooks. Evenings in Crumbles stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:00pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

Preparing for the day

Dietary needs and planning tips

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

What we need at the venue

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but a few things matter:

  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron.

Mixed paella

Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan, and it is frequently the first pan to empty.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
