About paella catering in PO18
Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately. We cook paella Valenciana, black rice and vegetable paella, and typical bookings are for milestone birthday parties and retirement and leaving parties.
Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
- We serve, then leave our area tidy.
Pricing in PO18
Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Landmarks near Bosham
Locally, our events take us close to The United Reformed Church, The Berkeley Arms Public House and Bosham Primary School. Bosham’s nearest station is Bosham station, roughly 0.8 miles north-east of the centre. Nearby you will also find Chichester Cathedral Treasury (3.2 miles east) and St Richard's Hospital (3.8 miles east). For a walk before or after the party, there’s Nutborne Marshes and Stoke Down.
Live paella across PO18: what to know
Across PO18, we cook in 3 towns and 32 villages and hamlets, so whether your event is in Chichester, Portfield and Fishbourne or a quiet village, the approach is the same: level ground, ventilation and agreed timings. Parts of PO18 are within a few miles of the South Downs National Park, where some venues have extra rules about vehicles and cooking. 10 of the places we cover in PO18 are within about 6 miles of the sea, where we always plan shelter from the wind, and seafood paella is popular.
Bosham: School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Bosham Primary School, can book us as a food stall. If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like The United Reformed Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. Planning an evening event in Bosham? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.
Space, weather and the venue
If a space is not suitable, we will tell you, and help find another spot. The main points are:
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
- Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
Prices and what affects them
Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:
- Guest numbers
- Travel, parking and access
- How long we’re needed on site
- How many courses
Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.
Getting an accurate quote
The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:
- Where the event is
- Which courses you have in mind
- Roughly how many adults and children
- A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.
Occasions we cook for in PO18
People book live paella because it’s food and entertainment at once. The pans become a focal point, and the food is hot and generous.
These are some of the occasions we cater in PO18 and West Sussex:
- Weddings and evening receptions
- Naming days and family parties
- Summer garden parties
- Company summer parties
Diets, allergies and planning
A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:
- Send allergies to us in writing
- Request clear labels at the serving table
- Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
Paella is best eaten as soon as it’s ready, so we serve when guests are ready.
We can add sangria and bar staff for your own drinks.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether travel is included
- If the price includes VAT
- Who provides the crockery
- Payment terms and deposit
Questions from PO18
What do you need at the venue?
Not a lot: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. If in doubt, send a photo.
Can the paella be cooked in a hall?
Usually we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.
How long do you need on site?
We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.
Can you bring crockery?
If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.
Do you provide drinks?
We can make sangria, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.
Should we have more than one paella?
Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.
Is halal food available?
Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in a separate pan.
- Cooked live in giant pans at your event
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
- Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
- Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
