Your questions about paella catering in Ningwood
What about events near the coast?
Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.
Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St. Michael the Archangel?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
How many paellas should we have?
Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we’ll suggest the mix.
What is live paella catering?
We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.
Will there be enough food?
Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. See how much paella per person.
What equipment do you bring?
Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You just need a suitable spot and access.
Where do you cater?
London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Ningwood.
Can you do sangria?
Sangria, yes. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.
Paella compared with other options
Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

Big or small, live paella works well. Common bookings include:

- Garden parties and summer barbecues
- Community events and fairs
If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Shalfleet Church of England Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser.

How the day works
Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. In Ningwood, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- First, you send us your date, venue, numbers and diets.
- We put together a menu and a clear quote.
- We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
- The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
- We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.
Preparing for the day
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
- Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
- Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Diets, allergies and planning
With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:
- Give us separate numbers for children
- Ask for labels on each pan
- Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
- Have seats for most of your guests
If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can enjoy your guests.
Sangria and bar staff can be added to serve drinks you provide.
A closer look at the menu
Mixed paella
Chicken and seafood together, and a popular all-rounder.
Black rice
Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is generally served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.
How we price paella catering
Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:
- Timings and hours
- How many courses
- How many staff you need
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.
What we need to know
The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- Roughly how many adults and children
- The address or venue name
- Which courses you have in mind
Send us the date, your venue or PO41 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, use our quote form.
