Paella catering for your event in Wellow

Paella is generous food: huge pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It turns a meal into an occasion. Popular choices include vegan paella, chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella, and typical bookings are for engagement and anniversary parties and garden get-togethers.

In a hamlet or village like Wellow, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose, with no surprises on the day.

About the dishes

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

Mixed paella

Paella mixta combines meat and seafood in one pan, and it is frequently the first pan to empty.

What affects the price in Wellow

There’s nothing hidden: the quote reflects:

  • How many courses
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Guest numbers
  • Waiting and bar staff

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What we need to know

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • The courses you’d like
  • A photo of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field

Send us the date, your venue or PO41 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and you will get a menu idea and a price. Just send us your details through our quote form.

Who books paella catering in Wellow?

There is no kitchen needed, so it’s at home in gardens, fields and marquees where other catering struggles.

In Wellow and nearby, we cater all sorts of events. Some of the most common are:

  • Big birthdays
  • Leaving dos and retirements
  • Weddings, from canapés to evening food
  • Summer garden parties

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Shalfleet Church of England Primary School, can book us as a food stall.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether travel is included
  • How bad weather is handled
  • How each diet is kept separate
  • Plates, cutlery and napkins, or disposables

Our caterer checklist

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate pans. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. The cost per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

What you get with us

  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Fast service from the pan
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request

Take a look at Our prices page And The cost guide.

Catering for every guest

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Tell us how many children are coming

The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Sangria and bar staff can be added for your own drinks.

The process

Service is quick: we serve straight from the pan, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Evenings in Wellow stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Plan cover in case of rain

Planning help

Planning the cooking area

We will be honest if a space will not work. What matters most:

  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking

Wellow is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we’ll plan the journey.

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Wellow: your questions answered

Is Wellow too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

What about events near the coast?

Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

Do you take everything away?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is normally popular with children. Include children in your numbers.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Do you cater in Wellow?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Wellow and the rest of the Isle of Wight. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

Is halal food available?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in a separate pan.
