How paella catering works in E15
We cook every paella from scratch on the day, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. We cook chicken and chorizo paella, vegan paella and paella Valenciana, and we’re often booked for family celebrations and christenings and retirement and leaving parties.
A typical event goes like this: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, the rice cooks in front of your guests, and we serve straight from the pan when you’re ready to eat.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
- A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
- On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
- We serve, then leave our area tidy.

Around Stratford
In Stratford, that can mean a party near West Ham Park, Carpenters Primary School and Stratford Circus, among other places. You’ll also find The Two Puddings pub (under half a mile south-east), Church of St John the Evangelist (within half a mile east) and Sarah Bonnell School (less than half a mile east). Stratford has its own railway station: Stratford (London) station, handy for guests travelling by train. A little further out are County Borough of West Ham (under half a mile south-east) and Queen Mary's Hospital for the East End (within half a mile east). For a walk before or after the party, there’s Hollow Pond and Old Ford Island.
Live paella across E15: what to know
E15 covers everything from Leyton, Stratford and Forest Gate to 0 small villages and hamlets, and live paella suits every kind of setting. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access.
Stratford: If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Stratford Circus, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser. If you are celebrating after a service at a church like Church of St John the Evangelist, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. Evenings in Stratford stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.
Events we cater in E15
There’s no kitchen needed, so it’s at home in gardens, fields and marquees where other catering struggles.
Big or small, live paella works well. Common bookings include:
- Naming days and family parties
- Weddings, from canapés to evening food
- Anniversaries and engagement parties
- Fairs, fêtes and festivals
DIY paella versus live catering
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.
Planning the cooking area
We cook in large pans over gas burners, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:
- Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
Planners, venues and businesses
For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.
Organising a club, school or community event in E15? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.
Catering for every guest
Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:
- Ensure each pan is labelled
- Confirm allergies by email
- Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
- Let us know about other food at the event
Once the rice is in, it needs about 20 minutes, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If timings shift, we adapt.
Add canapé tapas with the drinks or table tapas as a starter as the rice cooks.
E15: your questions answered
Is it really cooked live?
It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.
Will there be enough food?
We plan quantities from your guest numbers, timings and other courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.
Is the paella gluten-free?
Yes, on request. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.
How much space do you need?
Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a photo if you are not sure.
How much is live paella catering?
It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote.
Are premium seafood options available?
We will talk through seafood options when we plan your menu, including premium options if you want them.
- Cooked live in giant pans at your event
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
- Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
- Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
