Paella catering in E6: what to expect
Live paella catering means we bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients to your event and cook in front of your guests. Once it’s ready, we serve it hot from the pan. Popular choices include seafood paella, chicken and chorizo paella and black rice, and typical bookings are for retirement celebrations and community events and fairs.
Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook while your guests chat.
- We start with a few details about your event.
- You get a menu and an itemised quote.
- We agree timings, access and the cooking spot.
- On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
- We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Around East Ham
In East Ham, that can mean a party near The Miller's Well pub, The Service for Deaf and Partially Hearing Children and St Bartholomew's Church and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Langdon School (0.5 miles north-east), St Michael's Catholic Primary School (under half a mile north-east) and Beckton District Park (1 mile south-west). East Ham’s nearest station is Barking station, about 1.3 miles north-east. Nearby you will also find The Who Shop Museum (within half a mile north) and County Borough of West Ham (2.5 miles west). Open spaces near East Ham include Ripple Nature Reserve and Hollow Pond.
Live paella across E6: what to know
From Plaistow, Canning Town and Barking to 3 villages and hamlets, events across E6 range from town-centre venues to gardens and fields, and live paella suits every kind of setting. In towns, plan parking and access; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground.
East Ham: School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as St Michael's Catholic Primary School, can book us as a food stall. Historic houses near East Ham include Eastbury Manor House (1.9 miles east) and Valentines Mansion (3 miles north). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on caterers and cooking early. Around midsummer it stays light in East Ham until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
Before you choose a spot
Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:
- Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
- Access for unloading near the cooking spot
Planning for every diet
Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:
- Confirm allergies by email
- Tell us how many children are coming
- Let us know about other food at the event
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area, quietly and quickly.
Sangria and bar staff can be added for your own drinks.
What paella catering costs
The price comes down to a few factors:
- Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
- Timings and hours
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
Larger events usually cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
Getting an accurate quote
To speed things up, tell us:
- The courses you’d like
- Your date and when you want to eat
- Diets and allergies you know about
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
The quickest way to a quote is to fill in our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll suggest paellas and extras to suit.
Organising for someone else?
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.
Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

E6 questions
Do you do desserts?
Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Let us know if you’d like one in your enquiry.
Do we need to provide equipment?
We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You just need a suitable spot and access.
Do you cater for coeliacs?
Yes, on request. Rice is naturally gluten-free, but stock and some ingredients may not be, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.
How does live paella catering work?
We cook from scratch at your venue in big pans, in front of your guests, and serve straight from the pan.
Can you do sangria?
Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.
How many different paellas?
Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We will help you decide the split.
How long does the paella take?
We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.
