Live paella catering in Plashet
Paella catering for your event in Plashet
Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. Popular choices include chicken and chorizo paella, mixed paella and vegetable paella, and typical bookings are for office lunches and staff parties and retirement and leaving parties.
In a London neighbourhood like Plashet, the cooking spot is generally a back garden, a courtyard or a venue’s terrace. The thing to plan is parking and unloading, so tell us about permits, bays or a driveway when you ask for a quote. You’ll know exactly what’s included before you book: the menu, the staff and any extras.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
Events we cater in Plashet
There’s no kitchen needed, so it works in gardens, fields and marquees where other catering struggles.
Live paella suits almost any gathering. People in Plashet book us for occasions like:
- Milestone birthday parties
- Festivals, fairs and school events
- Office lunches and staff parties
- Wedding breakfasts and evening food
Thinking of a picnic-style party in West Ham Park? Public parks usually need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first.
Questions to ask before you book
- When final numbers are due
- Plates, cutlery and napkins, or disposables
- If the price includes VAT
- The wet-weather plan
What affects the price in Plashet
Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:
- How many guests are eating
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
- Distance and access to the venue
When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.
What to tell us
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:
- The address or venue name
- A photo of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
- The date and time of the event
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, use our quote form.
Is live paella right for your event?
Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. Service from the pan keeps queues moving. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.
Why book with us

Step by step
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Evenings in Plashet stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it’s dark, we need light to cook and serve by.
- Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
- We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
Preparing for the day
- Leave space around the cooking area
- Tell us where to park and unload
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
How to get a price
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: venue, timings, courses and extras. When you’re ready, send us your details through our quote form.
Planning help
Diets, allergies and planning
Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:
- Send allergies to us in writing
- Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
- Let us know about other food at the event
- Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area.
Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana finish the meal, or serve your own cake.
Plashet questions
Which station should guests use for Plashet?
The closest is Woodgrange Park station, roughly 0.5 miles away.
We are having a ceremony at Church of St Barnabas: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Send us the reception address.
Can paella be the only main course?
It’s a full meal on its own. Tapas and desserts can be added if you like.
How much paella per person?
Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.
Do you cook inside?
Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.
Do you cook it at the event?
Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.
Do you do starters?
Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas first, paella to follow.
What equipment do you bring?
We bring all the cooking equipment. Let us know what your venue has, like tables or crockery.
Planning the cooking area
Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:
- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
- Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
As a London location, Plashet is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.
If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think.
