Live paella catering in Rookley
Paella catering in Rookley, made fresh on the day
Watching it cook is part of the experience. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the smell does the rest. We are frequently asked to cater anniversaries and engagement parties and big birthdays, with vegetable paella, seafood paella and vegan paella.
Somewhere as small as Rookley, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

What paella catering costs
Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:
- How many staff you need
- Distance and access to the venue
- Starters, canapés and desserts
- Guest numbers
Larger events typically cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
What we need to know
These details help us quote quickly:
- What the venue already provides
- Any dietary needs and allergies
- A picture of where we’d cook
- Approximate guest numbers, including children
Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can fill in our quote form.
FAQs for Rookley
Is Rookley too small for live paella?
No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.
Can you cook near the sea around Rookley?
Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Sea breezes cool the pan, so a windbreak, building or gazebo helps.
Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.
How many different paellas?
Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will help you decide the split.
Do you cook inside?
Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.
Can you provide dessert?
We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices.
Which paellas suit our guests?
Most events choose two or three: chicken or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. See the sample menu.
Can we choose the seafood?
We’ll talk through seafood options when we plan your menu.
Dietary needs and planning tips
Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:
- Ask for labels on each pan
- Mention any other courses or food
- Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
- Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.
Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue does not provide them.
How the day works
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Rookley until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- You share your date, numbers and venue.
- We plan a menu that covers every diet.
- We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
- The paella cooks as guests gather round.
- We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.
Before we arrive
- Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
- Give us your final numbers and diets
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
Space, weather and the venue
Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but a few things matter:
- Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
- Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
Rookley is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we’ll plan the journey.
Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
