Wedding paella catering in Orpington, cooked live

At a wedding, paella is both the meal and a bit of a show. Guests drift over to watch the pans while the photos are being taken, and the meal arrives hot and generous. Typical bookings include marquee and garden weddings and spanish-themed and destination-style weddings, serving table tapas, canapé tapas and Spanish desserts.

London weddings around Orpington frequently mean a ceremony at a church or register office, then a reception at a hired venue or a family garden. Live paella works well at both, as long as there’s a ventilated spot to cook. Plan parking and loading early. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated.

DIY paella versus live catering

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

FAQs for Orpington

We are having a ceremony at St Andrew's: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Can you do our whole wedding menu?

Yes. We can do canapés, tapas, the wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.

Do you provide drinks?

We can make sangria, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

Do you do starters?

Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, while the rice is cooking.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and we’ll cook a separate pan.

Is paella smart enough for a wedding?

It can be dressed up or kept relaxed, depending on presentation and service.

How we price wedding paella catering

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • How many staff you need
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • How many courses

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Details that help

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • What the venue already provides
  • The courses you’d like

Send us the date, your venue or BR5 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just send us your details through our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

We will be honest if a space will not work. The main points are:

  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • An open-sided catering gazebo next to the marquee

Orpington is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Live paella or other catering?

Compared with formal catering, live paella is relaxed and sociable, but with canapés, table tapas and good crockery, it still feels special. Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.

Why book with us

  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan

Paella wedding breakfast

Paellas for every guest, served straight from the pan.

Table tapas

Sharing tapas breaks the ice before the paella arrives.

How the day works

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. In Orpington, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
  2. We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
  4. We cook live on the day and serve every course on cue.
  5. We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.

How to prepare

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Ensure we can park close by to unload
