Live paella across DA14

About paella catering in DA14

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. Typical bookings include weddings and evening receptions and big birthdays, with paella Valenciana, mixed paella and seafood paella.

We work to your timings. If things run behind, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is still served fresh.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. The rice cooks in full view, while tapas or canapés go round.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

What’s near Sidcup

We cook for events around The Alma pub, Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School and Holy Trinity Church and the streets around them. You’ll also find Birkbeck Primary School (less than half a mile south-east) and Waring Park (under half a mile east). There is a railway station in Sidcup itself: Sidcup station. Well-known places in the area include Queen Mary's Hospital (1 mile south) and Broadway Shopping Centre (2.4 miles north-east). Open spaces near Sidcup include Summer Hill and The Tarn.

Live paella across DA14: what to know

DA14 covers everything from Orpington, Sidcup and Bexley to 4 small villages and hamlets, and live paella suits every kind of setting. In towns, plan parking and access; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground.

Sidcup: For a christening or wedding at a church such as Holy Trinity Church, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. Nearby historic houses include Danson House (1.7 miles north) and Red House (1.9 miles north-east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on caterers and cooking early. In Sidcup, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

Working with your venue

Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

What affects the price in DA14

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Guest numbers
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Timings and hours

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Details that help

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Which courses you have in mind

It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will come back with a clear quote.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Mixed paella

Chicken and seafood together, for guests who want a bit of everything.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Vans serve one order at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, which suits weddings and parties where everyone eats together.

What your quote should include

  • How bad weather is handled
  • When payment is due
  • VAT, if it applies
  • Any travel, parking or access charges

FAQs for DA14

Can you feed plenty of people?

Yes. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Which paellas suit our guests?

Most events choose two or three: chicken or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. See the sample menu.

Do you cook inside?

Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, we do. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in its own pan.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.
