Live tapas catering in Mitcham

How the day works

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you can enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first as the rice is cooking. Evening receptions in Mitcham stay light until about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. First, we check availability.
  2. You pick the style.
  3. We set up on arrival.
  4. We serve the spread.
  5. Afterwards, we clear up.

Getting ready for the day

Tapas catering in Mitcham, made fresh on the day

For standing receptions, canapés work best; for seated meals, table tapas. Many events have both. We cook albóndigas, padrón peppers and patatas bravas, and typical bookings are for tapas and paella menus and table tapas as a starter.

Canapé tapas suit smaller London spaces in Mitcham. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

Working with your venue

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Mitcham questions

Can you cook in Cranmer Green?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

What about parking in Mitcham?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We will work around it.

Do you clear up afterwards?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

How long does the paella take?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Can we have tapas without paella?

Yes, tapas work on their own.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

Are the tapas fresh?

We finish hot dishes on site; cold ones go out as guests arrive.

Do you do desserts?

We can add a dessert. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote.

Is live paella right for your event?

For food that gets people mingling, tapas are hard to beat. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

DIY paella versus live catering

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Canapés need staff to serve
  • Pair tapas with sangria, cava or sherry
  • Ask for labels on each dish
  • Let us know if tapas are a starter or the main event

Canapés circulate with drinks as guests arrive.

Churros or crema catalana to finish.

What we need at the venue

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Room on tables for sharing dishes
  • The venue’s agreement to outside caterers
  • Space to finish hot dishes

As a London location, Mitcham is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
