Space, weather and the venue
Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but a few things matter:
- The venue’s agreement to outside caterers
- Room for a tapas table
- Unloading access
Enfield Lock is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.

DIY paella versus live catering
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Enfield Lock questions
We are having a ceremony at Ss Peter and Paul Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.
Which station should guests use for Enfield Lock?
Enfield Lock station, in Enfield Lock itself.
Can you bring crockery?
We can. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.
Are the tapas served hot?
Hot tapas are finished on site.
Is tapas catering available separately?
Absolutely, for receptions, parties and evening food.
How much does tapas catering cost in Enfield Lock?
It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we will send a quote.
Is the paella gluten-free?
We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.
Can you provide dessert?
We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.
Dietary needs and planning tips
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Decide whether tapas are a starter, canapés or the whole meal
- Ask guests about diets and allergies
- Label vegetarian and allergen-free dishes
- Include staff for canapés
Tapas go out to the tables at the start of the meal.
Bar staff and sangria.
Step by step
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, it is light in Enfield Lock until about 9:20pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it is dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:50pm.
