Planning a tapas spread in America Ground
America Ground is about 1 mile east of St Leonards, in East Sussex. We cook at events in gardens, halls and venues around America Ground and nearby villages. We cover 289 places in East Sussex, from the larger towns to small villages. Our events stretch from America Ground to Brighton (about 31 miles away).
Parks such as Linton Gardens have their own rules for catering, so check before planning a party there. After a ceremony at a church such as Holy Trinity Church, canapé tapas with the drinks keep guests happy during photos. With the sea within about a mile, seafood tapas such as gambas al ajillo are a natural choice.

Close by, we cover events in Belmont (1 mile north-east), Hastings Old Town (1 mile east), Rock-a-Nore (1 mile east), Blacklands (1 mile north) and St Leonards (1 mile west). What tapas catering costs
The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:
- Distance and access to the venue
- The paellas you choose
- How many courses
- How many guests are eating
Larger events usually cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
Details that help
Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
- Where the event is
- Whether the venue has crockery or staff
- Diets and allergies you know about
Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, use our quote form.
FAQs for America Ground
Could we have live paella in Linton Gardens?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.
What’s the nearest station to America Ground for guests?
America Ground has its own station: Hastings station.
Are the tapas fresh?
Yes, hot dishes are finished at the venue so they’re served at their best.
How much paella per person?
Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.
Do you cook inside?
Usually we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. We’ll check whether your venue has a suitable space.
How many different paellas?
Typically two or three, so every guest has a choice. We will recommend a mix based on diets.
Do you cook it at the event?
Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.
Do we need staff for canapés?
Yes, if you want them. Canapés need staff to serve.
Dishes our guests love
Tortilla española
Potato omelette served in wedges or squares.
Patatas bravas
Always popular.
How it works
On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. A summer drinks reception in America Ground has daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. In late September, sunset is about 7:00pm; winter receptions, dark by 3:55pm, are better indoors.
- Send us the date, venue, numbers and serving style.
- We put together a tapas selection and a quote.
- We arrive, set up and finish hot dishes on site.
- Canapés go round with the drinks, or table tapas go out to share.
- We pack down when service ends.
Getting ready for the day
- Choose a level spot for the cooking area
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking
- Arrange parking near the cooking spot

Live paella or other catering?
If you want food that encourages guests to mingle, tapas work brilliantly. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We will send you a quote.
