Paella catering for your event in Alverstone Garden Village

There’s something generous about paella: huge pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It turns a meal into an occasion. Typical bookings include fairs, fêtes and festivals and weddings, from canapés to evening food, serving chicken and chorizo paella, mixed paella and paella Valenciana.

In a small place like Alverstone Garden Village, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We cook every pan in full view of your guests, so it arrives hot and becomes part of the event.

Catering for every guest

Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:

  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Ensure most guests can sit to eat
  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan

If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can relax.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.

What’s in the pans

Mixed paella

Chicken and seafood together, and a popular all-rounder.

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, traditionally with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Live paella or other catering?

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Why us?

  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • Drinks service on request
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available

Alverstone Garden Village: your questions answered

We are having a ceremony at All Saints' Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

What about events near the coast?

Yes, as long as we can shelter from the wind. Sea breezes cool the pan, so a windbreak, building or gazebo helps.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a sensible margin. Accurate numbers help.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Can paella be the only main course?

Yes. With bread and salad, paella is a complete main, and tapas or dessert can be added.

Do you bring everything you need?

We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You just need a suitable spot and access.

How much is live paella catering?

We quote for each event, so you only pay for what you need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

What happens on the day

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day. In Alverstone Garden Village, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Let us know the timings for the day
