Prices and what affects them

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • The number of people
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Whether you need crockery

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Questions from Boreham Street

Is Boreham Street too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Which station should guests use for Boreham Street?

The closest is Normans Bay station, roughly 3.7 miles away.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We will make a plan B with you.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.

How many different paellas?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.

Do you do Christmas parties?

Yes, if there’s a covered, ventilated spot. December dates go fast.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

Live paella or other catering?

Food vans can create long queues. Paella is served fast from the pan. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We’ll send you a quote.

What you get with us

  • Sangria and bar staff available
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan

Should I cook it myself?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Working with your venue

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

The process

The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. After-work summer parties in Boreham Street have daylight until about 9:15pm in late June and 7:00pm in late September; for winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting.

  1. Send us the date, venue, numbers and timings.
  2. You get a menu, a price and documents.
  3. We agree access and set-up with facilities.
  4. We cook live and serve on schedule.
  5. We clear our area and leave it clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Make sure we can park close by to unload
