Wedding paella catering in South Wimbledon

How our wedding paella catering works in South Wimbledon

Your wedding menu is planned with you, course by course, to suit your guests, venue and budget. We’re often asked to cater sharing-style wedding meals and weddings with mixed diets, serving table tapas, a paella wedding breakfast and canapé tapas.

London weddings around South Wimbledon often mean a ceremony at a church or register office, then a reception at a hired venue or a family garden. Live paella works well at both, as long as there is a ventilated spot to cook. Plan parking and loading early. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Our caterer checklist

Planning for every diet

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:

  • Ask about your date as soon as you have one
  • Choose pan-side or table service
  • Give us separate day and evening numbers
  • Put us in touch with your venue

Guests can queue at the pans, or staff can serve the tables, whichever suits your day.

Table tapas make a sociable starter.

How the day works

Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook while your guests chat. In South Wimbledon, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means evening paella is normally served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us your wedding date, venue and numbers.
  2. Together we plan each course.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue.
  4. We cook live on the day and serve each course.
  5. We clear our area; staff stay as booked.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Ensure the spot is clear of anything flammable

South Wimbledon questions

Can you cook in Wandle Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

We’re having a ceremony at Holy Trinity: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

How long do you need on site?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We agree the timings in advance.

How many paellas should we have?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

Do you do canapés and evening food too?

We can cater as much or as little of the day as you like, from canapés to evening food.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.

Where do you cater?

We cater across London and the South East, including Greater London. See all areas.

Working with your venue

If you are booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we will talk you through the process. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in South Wimbledon? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.

What affects the price in South Wimbledon

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • The length of service
  • How many guests are eating
  • Starters, canapés and desserts

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What we need to know

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • The venue or postcode
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • The courses you’d like

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, use our quote form.

Is live paella right for your wedding?

Choosing between paella and a traditional menu?, think about your venue, your guests’ diets and the feel of the day. The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why choose Love Paella in South Wimbledon

  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Events in South Wimbledon and across Greater London

See Our pricing Or The cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Dishes our guests love

Canapé tapas

Small bites carried round on boards while guests mingle, ideal for the drinks reception.

Desserts

To finish: Spanish desserts or your own cake.
