Your questions about wedding paella catering in Reading

Which station should guests use for Reading?

Reading West station, about 0.7 miles north-west of the centre.

Is Reading close to London?

About 38 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we take the right care.

What if photos overrun?

Tell us and we will adjust. We stay in touch with your coordinator so the paella is served fresh.

Do you provide drinks?

We can make sangria, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

What space do you need to cook?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

Can you cater the whole day?

We can cater as much or as little of the day as you like, from the drinks reception to the evening.

How it works

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. In Reading, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:10pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us your wedding date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan your menu course by course.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue.
  4. On the day, we cook and serve each course.
  5. We pack down, and staff stay as agreed.

How to prepare

  • Make sure we can park close by to unload
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Reading weddings: local tips

Reading is about 38 miles west of London, in Wokingham. For wedding paella catering in Reading, we plan around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and paella cooked live on the day. Reading is one of 35 places in Wokingham we cover.

Planning photos in Eldon Square? It’s worth checking the park’s rules first. Couples marrying at local churches such as All Nations Christian Centre often hold the reception nearby: we can be cooking during the photos, so it’s ready as guests arrive.

Here we cover the RG6, RG31, RG1 and RG30 postcode area. We can cater a wedding on streets such as Downshire Square, Market Way and Market Place. With the A4 and A33 close by, Reading is easy for us to reach. DIY paella versus live catering

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Occasions we cook for in Reading

Paella can work for the wedding breakfast, the evening, or both, so it’s flexible.

Whatever the occasion, paella can be the star of the food. We often cook for:

  • Spanish-themed and destination-style weddings
  • Weddings in a marquee or garden
  • Food for evening guests
  • Barn and farm weddings

Nearby historic houses include Mapledurham House (3.6 miles north-west). If your reception is at a historic house or estate, ask early about its rules on caterers and live cooking.

How to compare caterers

How we price wedding paella catering

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Whether you need crockery
  • How many staff you need
  • How many guests are eating
  • Your choice of paellas

Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We will send you a quote.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • What the venue already provides
  • The date and time of the event
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Where the event is

Send us the date, your venue or RG6 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, fill in our quote form.

Planning the cooking area

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

For event organisers in Reading

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Why choose live paella in Reading?

Compared with formal catering, live paella is relaxed and sociable, but with the right extras it feels just as special. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why choose Love Paella in Reading
