Step by step
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. For a summer wedding in New Town, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, which means evening paella is typically served in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting for the cooking area.
- Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
- Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
- We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
- On the day, we set up, cook in front of your guests and serve each course.
- We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.
Preparing for the day
- Check the venue allows live cooking
- Name one person we can ask on the day
- Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

Prices and what affects them
Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- Travel, parking and access
- The length of service
- Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
- The paellas you choose
Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. Ask us for a quote.
Details that help
For a quote, it helps to have:
- Anything your venue supplies
- The address or venue name
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. You can send us your details through our quote form.
New Town questions
We are having a ceremony at St Stephen's Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.
Can you cook at venues in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.
Is the paella gluten-free?
We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.
Do you do starters?
Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas first, paella to follow.
What about supplier meals?
Yes, include them in your numbers. Let us know when they need feeding.
Where do you cater?
London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.
Can you provide dessert?
We do. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana.
Can you cater for children?
Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.
Dishes our guests love
Table tapas
Tapas set out on every table to share, such as patatas bravas, croquetas and Manchego.
Desserts
Churros with chocolate, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago.
Should I cook it myself?
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.
Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
Working with your venue
For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

Live paella or other catering?
A plated wedding breakfast needs a kitchen and a large team. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission, and suits a relaxed style. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.
