How our paella catering works in New Town

Live paella catering means we bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients to your event and cook in front of your guests. When it is ready, it’s served straight from the pan. For naming days and family parties and engagement and anniversary parties, we can cook mixed paella, paella Valenciana and vegetable paella for your guests.

Somewhere as small as New Town, a garden or field is frequently the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. Timings are planned around your event, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up the pans and burners, and cook and serve without fuss. Around midsummer it stays light in New Town until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

How to prepare

  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Seafood paella
