Why choose live paella in Didcot?

Food trucks serve one order at a time, which can mean long queues at a wedding. Paella pans serve many guests quickly. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

Didcot questions

Is Didcot close to London?

About 50 miles from central London.

Which station should guests use for Didcot?

Didcot has its own station: Didcot Parkway station.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Can paella feel formal?

With the right presentation, it feels special: canapés, tapas, crockery and table service.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain does not stop us, as long as there’s a ventilated cover. We will make a plan B with you.

How many different paellas?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

Can you provide dessert?

Yes. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana, or you can serve your own cake.

Is it really cooked live?

It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, serving it hot from the pan.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

What affects the price in Didcot

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • How many courses
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • The paellas you choose
  • Travel, parking and access

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What to tell us

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Expected numbers
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • The date and time of the event

Send us the date, your venue or OX11 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

Space, weather and the venue

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think.

The process

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. In Didcot, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:10pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting for the cooking area.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and ideas.
  2. We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
  4. On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
  5. We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.

Getting ready for the day

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

How to get a price
