Wedding paella catering for Lambeth events

Wedding paella catering in Lambeth, made fresh on the day

A wedding paella is food and entertainment at once. Guests drift over to watch the pans while the photos are being taken, and the food arrives hot and plentiful. We cook a paella wedding breakfast, Spanish desserts and table tapas, and we’re regularly asked to cater weddings with lots of dietary needs and blessings and vow renewals.

In Lambeth, getting guests from ceremony to reception is part of the plan. The paella can be cooking while everyone makes their way over, so it is ready when they arrive. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

Paella compared with other options

Choosing between paella and a traditional menu?, consider your venue, diets and the style you want. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Live cooking, not reheated food

The menu, dish by dish

Canapé tapas

One- and two-bite tapas on boards, perfect during the photos.

Paella wedding breakfast

Two or three paellas, served from the pans or brought to the tables.

Space, weather and the venue

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • A cooking spot outside the marquee, not inside it
  • Somewhere close to park and unload

Lambeth is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

Working with your venue

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Step by step

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. When service is finished, we pack down. For a summer wedding in Lambeth, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, tapas, paellas and desserts.
  3. We confirm the plan with your coordinator.
  4. The pans cook while guests enjoy the drinks.
  5. We serve and clear our cooking area.

Before we arrive

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches

Lambeth questions

Can you cook in Old Paradise Gardens?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Is parking a problem for events in Lambeth?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We’ll plan unloading around it.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, sangria. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Courtyards, doorways and terraces frequently work.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. If in doubt, send a picture.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.

How do you work out quantities?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

How much is live paella catering?

We quote for each event, so you only pay for what you need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Diets, allergies and planning

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Tell us when speeches will be
  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
  • Choose pan-side or table service

Fresh pans can be cooked for evening guests, timed for after the first dance.

Sangria and bar staff can be added.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
