Wedding paella catering in Elephant and Castle, cooked live

Timing is everything with paella: once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and it is best served right away. We plan it around your speeches and photos. Typical bookings include rustic barn weddings and parties after a register office wedding, serving Spanish desserts, a paella wedding breakfast and evening paella.

For a wedding in Elephant and Castle, think about how guests travel between ceremony and reception. Paella can be cooking while they’re on the move, ready to serve on arrival. You will know exactly what’s included before booking: the menu, the staff and any extras, with no surprises on the day.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Give us separate day and evening numbers
  • Decide whether guests queue at the pans or are served at the tables
  • Include any suppliers you’re feeding
  • Enquire early for peak dates

Fresh pans can be cooked for evening guests, normally timed after the first dance.

Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.

What wedding paella catering costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • The number of people
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • How many courses

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What to tell us

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field

Planners, venues and businesses

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We will provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

Questions from Elephant and Castle

Can you cook in Newington Gardens?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Metropolitan Tabernacle?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and they’re popular with everyone. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

What about supplier meals?

Yes, include them in your numbers. Tell us when they’ll eat.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we can plan it carefully.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain does not stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We will talk it through before the day.

What if our speeches run late?

Tell us and we will adjust. We stay in touch with your coordinator and time the rice so it is served at its best.

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Step by step

The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. In Elephant and Castle, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means evening paella is normally served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan your menu course by course.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue.
  4. We cook live on the day and serve each course.
  5. We clear our area; staff stay as booked.

Before we arrive

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
