Tapas catering for St Clement's events
DIY paella versus live catering
DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.
How our tapas catering works in St Clement's
Receptions, parties, office events and weddings all suit tapas in and around St Clement's. We cook patatas bravas, Serrano ham and tortilla española, and typical bookings are for tapas with a paella main course and work receptions.
In St Clement's, tapas work at home or in a local hall. The paella is served straight from the pan, so it is hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

Diets, allergies and planning
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:
- Pair tapas with sangria, cava or sherry
- Let us know if tapas are a starter or the main event
- Allow more variety if tapas are the whole meal
- Label vegetarian and allergen-free dishes
Each dish is labelled.

What happens on the day
We work to your timings. If things run behind, we hold the paella at the right stage so it’s still served fresh. A summer drinks reception in St Clement's has daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it is dark around 7:10pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.
- Send us the date, venue, numbers and serving style.
- We put together a tapas selection and a quote.
- On the day we arrive, set up and finish the hot tapas on site.
- Canapés circulate with drinks, or tapas go to the tables.
- We clear away our equipment when service is finished.
Getting ready for the day
- Share the running order, including any speeches
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
- Make sure we can park close by to unload

Is live paella right for your event?
Plated starters need a kitchen. Table tapas are shared and relaxed. Larger events usually cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Questions from St Clement's
What’s the nearest station to St Clement's for guests?
The closest is Oxford station, roughly 1.3 miles away.
Can you cater a reception after a service at St Clement's Church?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
Can you cook indoors?
Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.
Can you cater for children?
Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.
Can you do gluten-free paella?
We can, if you tell us in advance. Rice is naturally gluten-free, but stock and some ingredients may not be, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.
Is halal food available?
Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.
Are there vegetarian tapas?
Yes. Tortilla, bravas and Manchego are popular vegetarian choices.
