Dietary needs and planning tips

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Canapés need staff to serve
  • Match tapas with Spanish drinks
  • Widen the selection for a tapas-only menu
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies

Staff carry canapés round and keep boards topped up.

Your questions about tapas catering in Aylesbury

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Is the paella cooked on site?

It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Do you cater for young children?

Children are welcome. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan for them.

Do you offer halal options?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it’s cooked separately.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Do you do desserts?

Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

Paella compared with other options

For food that gets people mingling, tapas work brilliantly. The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Why book with us

  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Sangria and bar staff available
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment

The process

The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. A summer drinks reception in Aylesbury has daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer, ideal for tapas in the garden. By late September it is dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. We serve canapés or table tapas.
  5. We clear our equipment afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
