Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

For planners, venues and organisers
If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.
Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.
Queens Park questions
What’s the nearest station to Queens Park for guests?
Aylesbury station, about 0.5 miles west of the centre.
How far is Queens Park from London?
Roughly 37 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
Do you do vegan paella?
Yes. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans.
Do you offer halal options?
Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it is cooked separately.
How long do you need on site?
We get there in good time to set up. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.
Can you serve tapas as well?
Of course. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, while the rice is cooking.
Can we have tapas without paella?
Yes. Tapas and canapés can be booked on their own.
Do you provide serving staff?
Canapés work best with staff serving, which we can supply.
Before you choose a spot
Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We need:
- An area to prepare hot tapas
- Unloading access
- The venue’s agreement to outside caterers
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.
Popular choices
- Serrano ham
- Olives & bread
- Albóndigas
- Croquetas
- Manchego & membrillo
- Padrón peppers
- Chorizo in red wine
- Gambas al ajillo
- Patatas bravas
- Tortilla española
Is live paella right for your event?
Crisps and nibbles fill a gap. Tapas are a real course. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.
Why Queens Park hosts choose us
- Live cooking, not reheated food
- Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
- Starters and desserts to complete the menu
- Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available

How it works
The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day. At midsummer, it’s light in Queens Park until about 9:25pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. In late September, sunset is about 7:05pm; winter receptions, dark by 3:55pm, are better indoors.
