Our paella catering in HP5

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Typical bookings include weddings, from canapés to evening food and anniversaries and engagement parties, serving chicken and chorizo paella, vegetable paella and paella Valenciana.

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

Paella catering in HP5: local guide

There are 3 towns and 12 villages and hamlets in HP5, so whether your event is in Chesham, Pond Park and Chesham Bois or a quiet village, the approach is the same: a level, ventilated spot and a clear plan. Parts of HP5 are within a few miles of the Chilterns National Landscape, where some venues have extra rules about vehicles and cooking.

Chesham: For a christening or wedding at a church such as Emmanuel, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. Nearby historic houses include Cholesbury Manor House (3.5 miles north-west) and Chenies Manor House (4.3 miles south-east). Historic venues often limit cooking, so ask early if you are booking one. In Chesham, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago.

What’s in the pans

Vegetable and vegan paella

A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

Seafood paella

A rich seafood stock with prawns, mussels and squid, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s the pan people photograph.

Planning the cooking area

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Level ground for the pans and burners
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

Organising for someone else?

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Prices and what affects them

There’s nothing hidden: the quote reflects:

  • Parking and unloading
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Whether you need crockery
  • The paellas you choose

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Expected numbers
  • The address or venue name
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field

Still deciding on the menu? That is fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will suggest a menu. To start, fill in our quote form.
