Paella catering in Tyler's Hill, made fresh on the day

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. On the menu are chicken and chorizo paella, seafood paella and vegetable paella, and typical bookings are for naming days and family parties and anniversary celebrations.

For a rural spot like Tyler's Hill, the countryside is part of the appeal: a giant pan in a garden or field fits perfectly. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Everything is cooked from scratch at your event, never made in advance and reheated.

A closer look at the menu

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

The process

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in Tyler's Hill until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu and a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up the burners and pans and get the stock going.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. We serve from the pan, then clear our cooking area away.

Planning for every diet

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Give us separate numbers for children

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further and suit guests who aren’t big rice eaters.

Questions from Tyler's Hill

We are having a ceremony at St George's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

How far is Tyler's Hill from London?

Roughly 25 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Will there be enough food?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria, yes. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

What is live paella catering?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook while everyone watches, and serve at the time you want.

Is halal food available?

We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it is cooked separately.

What do you need at the venue?

Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.

Why choose paella catering in Tyler's Hill?

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, thanks to separate pans for each version. Everyone gets the same kind of meal.

Whatever the occasion, paella can be the star of the food. We frequently cook for:

  • Leaving dos and retirements
  • Weddings and evening receptions
  • Naming days and family parties
  • Birthday celebrations

Historic houses near Tyler's Hill include Chenies Manor House (3 miles south-east) and Cholesbury Manor House (4.6 miles north-west). Historic venues often limit cooking, so ask early if you’re booking one.

How to compare caterers

Working with your venue

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

What affects the price in Tyler's Hill

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many staff you need
  • Starters, canapés and desserts

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • The courses you’d like
  • The address or venue name
  • What the venue already provides

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.

Is live paella right for your event?

Vans serve one order at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. We’ll send you a quote.
