Paella catering in Chartridge, made fresh on the day

Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked in the open in a big, shallow pan and shared straight from it. That’s what we bring to events in Chartridge. Whether it is garden parties and summer barbecues and company summer parties, we can cook vegetable paella, mixed paella and vegan paella and more.

Is live paella right for your event?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • Catering across Buckinghamshire, including Chartridge
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
  • Everything cooked fresh at your event

See Our prices page Or Our guide to catering costs.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

What’s in the pans

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Paella Valenciana

Valencians take their paella seriously. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron, and it’s a crowd-pleaser.

FAQs for Chartridge

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St John's Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

How many different paellas?

Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Is live paella good for a large crowd?

Yes. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

Do you cater for young children?

Of course. Children often love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.

What if the weather’s bad?

We need a covered spot, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We plan for rain with you in advance.

Can you do sangria?

Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

How much paella per person?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Let us know about any other food. See how much paella per person.

The process

Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook while your guests chat. Around midsummer it stays light in Chartridge until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
