What paella party catering costs

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Guest numbers
  • Parking and unloading
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know about your party, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • A photo of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We will come back with a clear quote.

Paella party catering in Freshwater, cooked live

Paella is relaxed food: it’s served from the pan and shared, so nobody needs a formal seating plan. On the menu are seafood paella, churros and chicken and chorizo paella, and typical bookings are for wakes and memorial gatherings and anniversaries and engagement parties.

Around Freshwater, a garden and a gazebo is all you need. Live paella fits right in. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so one booking can cover the whole menu.

Questions from Freshwater

We’re having a ceremony at All Saints' Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can you cook near the sea around Freshwater?

Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, where your guests can watch.

Can you cater for children?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is usually popular with children. Include children in your numbers.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

We can. Tell us what your venue provides and we will include the rest in the quote.

What about pudding?

Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Let us know if you’d like one when you ask for a quote.

How much is live paella catering?

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers for a clear quote.

Live paella or other catering?

Ordering in is easy but forgettable. Live paella gives guests a show. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why us?

  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Live cooking, not reheated food

Planning the cooking area

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Send a picture of the garden so we can check

For somewhere as remote as Freshwater, early notice helps us plan the trip.

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

How the day works

Here’s how the day generally runs: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, the rice cooks in front of your guests, and it’s served hot from the pan when you’re ready to eat. At midsummer, it’s light in Freshwater until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it is dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. You tell us the date, address, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up and get cooking.
  4. The paella cooks while your guests chat, with any tapas served first.
  5. It’s served from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Tell us when you want to eat

Planning help

DIY paella versus live catering

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Catering for every guest

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Plan a covered spot for wet weather
  • Have bins ready
  • Keep children and pets away from the burners
  • Let the neighbours know

When you’re ready to eat, we serve straight from the pan, while you enjoy your guests.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges round off the meal.

Planners, venues and businesses

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where cooking is allowed, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

We cook in all 125 towns and villages across the Isle of Wight, from the larger towns to small villages. Our events stretch from Freshwater to Southampton (about 17 miles away).

Christenings and naming days often start at a local church such as All Saints' Church, with a paella lunch at home or in a hall afterwards. Local halls and clubs near Freshwater are an option if the garden is small. The coast is within about a mile, so seafood paella frequently features, with shelter from the breeze planned in.

We also cook at parties in Easton (1 mile south-east), Colwell (1 mile north-west), Norton Green (1 mile north), Afton (1 mile south-east) and Totland (1 mile west). We also cook in nearby towns such as Newport (10 miles east), Cowes (11 miles north-east), Shanklin (15 miles east), Ventnor (15 miles south-east), East Cowes (12 miles north-east) and Barton (10 miles east).
