Common questions in Barton

We’re having a ceremony at St Paul's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Could we have live paella in Seaclose Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes, we do. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in its own pan.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

How many different paellas?

Typically two or three, so every guest has a choice. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

Will there be enough food?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a sensible margin. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

How soon do we need to book?

The sooner the better. Popular dates book up first, so contact us early.

How to compare caterers

Why choose live paella in Barton?

Home-made buffets take ages and sit out for hours. Paella is cooked fresh and served hot. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • We cover Barton and the whole of the Isle of Wight
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks

How the day works

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. At midsummer, it is light in Barton until about 9:20pm, so a garden party can run well into the evening. In late September it is dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Send us the date, the address, numbers and diets.
  2. You get a menu suggestion and a clear price.
  3. On the day, we set up and get cooking.
  4. Guests gather round as it cooks, nibbling tapas if you’ve booked them.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

Planning help

Catering for every guest

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Keep a clear zone around the cooking area
  • Count adults and children separately
  • Plan where rubbish goes
  • Have enough chairs for most guests

When service is finished, we pack down quietly, leaving you to carry on celebrating.

Churros with chocolate are a hit with children and adults.

Should I cook it myself?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Planning the cooking area

Before the day, we’ll agree where we cook. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • A quick photo of the spot helps us plan

Barton is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

What we offer

  • Churros
  • Tapas
  • Vegetable paella
  • Mixed paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Paella Valenciana
