Paella party catering in Ryde, made fresh on the day

A paella party means no cooking for you, and no formal dinner either. We set up in the garden or venue and cook as your guests chat. We are often asked to cater anniversaries and engagement parties and retirement and leaving parties, with mixed paella, churros and vegetable paella.

In a town like Ryde, a garden party is the classic choice, with a local hall or club as a good back-up if the garden is small. We just need a level spot to cook. You’ll know exactly what’s included before booking: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose, with no surprises on the day.

What paella party catering costs

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Details that help

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • The date and time of the event
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Send us the date, your venue or PO33 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

Before the day, we’ll agree where we cook. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Somewhere close to park and unload
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area

Ryde is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Menu ideas

  • Tapas
  • Vegetable paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

DIY paella versus live catering

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

How the day works

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we hold the paella at the right stage so it’s served at its best. A summer party in Ryde stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, so a garden party can run well into the evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. It starts with your date, address, numbers and any diets.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up and get cooking.
  4. The paella cooks while your guests chat, with any tapas served first.
  5. It is served from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Tell us when you want to eat

Ryde parties: what to know

Ryde is about 6 miles south of Gosport, in the Isle of Wight. We cook at parties in gardens, halls and venues around Ryde and nearby villages. Ryde is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover. Our nearest city page is Southampton, about 17 miles away.

If guests are coming by rail, Ryde St Johns Road station is in Ryde itself. After a christening at a church like All Saints' Church, a paella lunch is an easy way to feed family and friends. The coast is within about a mile, so seafood paella often features, and we always plan for wind.

Wherever your party is in PO33, we can bring paella party catering to you, from busy streets to quiet lanes. That could mean a party in a garden on High Street, St Thomas' Square and Market Street. Ryde sits on or near the A3054 and A3055, which makes travel to your party easy. For parties just outside Ryde, we cover Oakfield (1 mile south-east), Haylands (1 mile south-west), Elmfield (1 mile south-east), Appley (1 mile east) and Westridge (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cater in Newport (6 miles west), Cowes (7 miles west), Sandown (5 miles south), Shanklin (6 miles south), Ventnor (9 miles south) and East Cowes (6 miles west). Ryde is one of the larger places we cover in the Isle of Wight, with lots of choice for parties. If your party is somewhere remote, let us know early and we’ll plan the trip.

A little further out are Gosport War Memorial Hospital (4.8 miles north) and Sandown Castle (4.7 miles south). Not far away are Brading Down and Alan Hersey Nature Reserve.

  • Local schools include Ryde School with Upper Chine (under half a mile north-west) and Ryde Academy (0.5 miles west)
  • Nearby, you will find The Falcon pub (within half a mile west)

Working with your venue

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Paella compared with other options

DIY catering saves money but costs you time. With live paella, you’re a guest too. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

What you get with us

  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Drinks service on request

FAQs for Ryde

Can you cook near the sea around Ryde?

Yes, as long as we can shelter from the wind. Wind is the main issue on the coast, so we plan shelter.

Can you cater a reception after a service at All Saints' Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Will the neighbours notice?

There’s a cooking smell, but much less smoke than a barbecue. Let the neighbours know.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

Do you cover Ryde?

Yes, we do. We cook at events in Ryde and across the Isle of Wight. Send us your date to check availability.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook it there and then, serving it hot from the pan.

Who clears up?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

Is paella OK for kids?

Paella is popular with children, especially a mild chicken one. Let us know numbers and ages.
