Paella catering near Rew Street

Dishes our guests love

Mixed paella

Chicken and seafood together, and a popular all-rounder.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It’s often the most popular pan at an event.

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. Whether it’s weddings, from canapés to evening food and company summer parties, we can cook mixed paella, vegetable paella and chicken and chorizo paella for your guests.

In a small place like Rew Street, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included, each in a separate pan.

Catering for every guest

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Make sure most guests can sit to eat

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, and that’s when we invite guests up.

We can add sangria and bar staff to serve drinks you provide.

Rew Street: venues, travel and local tips

Rew Street is about 1 mile south-west of Cowes, in the Isle of Wight. Events in Rew Street are planned around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and paella cooked live on the day. We cater in all 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight. Our nearest city page is Southampton, about 12 miles away.

Historic houses near Rew Street include Osborne House (2.8 miles east) and Carisbrooke Castle (4.1 miles south). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on caterers and cooking early. If you are celebrating after a service at a church like All Saints' Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. Rew Street is within about 2 miles of the sea, so a seafood pan is a popular choice. Sea breezes can be strong, so we plan a sheltered cooking spot.

We cover events in every part of the PO31 postcode area and the streets around it. Local streets include Rew Street, Harness Lane and Westview Road; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Northwood (1 mile east), Gurnard (1 mile north-east), Cowes (1 mile north-east), Great Thorness (2 miles south-west) and Noke Common (2 miles south-east). We also cook in nearby towns such as Newport (4 miles south-east), Ryde (8 miles east), Sandown (10 miles south-east), Shanklin (10 miles south-east), Ventnor (12 miles south-east) and Oakfield (8 miles east). For an event at a remote venue, tell us early so we can plan the journey.

Rew Street questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at All Saints' Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Is Rew Street too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Do you bring everything you need?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You just need a suitable spot and access.

Do you cook it at the event?

It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.

Who clears up?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.

What is live paella catering?

We bring everything needed to cook on site, cook while everyone watches, and serve at the time you want.

Do you provide drinks?

We can make sangria, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

DIY paella versus live catering

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

What we need at the venue

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

Rew Street is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up the pans and burners, and cook and serve without fuss. Around midsummer it stays light in Rew Street until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Getting ready for the day

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Leave space around the cooking area

Planning help

Who books paella catering in Rew Street?

In Rew Street and nearby, we cater all sorts of events. Some of the most common are:

  • Engagement and anniversary parties
  • Birthday celebrations
  • Naming days and family parties
  • Fairs, fêtes and festivals

If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Northwood Primary School, a paella stall is a crowd-pleaser.

How to compare caterers

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

How we price paella catering

There are no hidden charges: the quote reflects:

  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • How many courses
  • How many guests are eating
  • Waiting and bar staff

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.
