Paella catering in Brading

Paella catering for your event in Brading

Almost any venue with a level, ventilated spot will do: a garden, marquee, barn, courtyard or field. We cook vegetable paella, mixed paella and black rice, and we are regularly asked to cater weddings, from canapés to evening food and staff parties and work lunches.

For a rural spot like Brading, the countryside is part of the appeal: a huge pan in a garden or field fits perfectly. Tell us about access and the ground. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

Prices and what affects them

Your quote will be clear and itemised. What affects it most:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • The number of people
  • How many courses
  • Distance and access to the venue

Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We’ll send you a quote.

What to tell us

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The date and rough timings
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • The courses you’d like

Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.

Paella compared with other options

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before booking.

What you get with us

  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Waiting staff and crockery on request

Space, weather and the venue

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

Brading is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we’ll plan the journey.

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we offer

  • Vegan paella

How to compare caterers

Your questions about paella catering in Brading

Can you cater a reception after a service at St. Mary's Church?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Is Brading too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

How long does the paella take?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We’ll agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you.

Can you feed plenty of people?

Very much so. We plan the number of pans and serving points around your numbers.

How much space do you need?

Not a lot: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. If in doubt, send a picture.

What happens with live paella?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

Can you bring crockery?

If you need them, yes. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Do you come to Brading?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Brading is within our area and the rest of the Isle of Wight. To check your date, fill in our quote form.

Working with your venue

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we will talk you through the process. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

About the dishes

Paella Valenciana

Valencians take their paella seriously. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans.

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Catering for every guest

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Around midsummer it stays light in Brading until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Tell us where to park and unload
