About our wedding paella catering in Southwark

Mixed diets are easy at a paella wedding: each paella has its own pan, so vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests eat the same kind of meal as everyone else. Whether it is rustic barn weddings and weddings in a marquee or garden, we will put together a menu of table tapas, Spanish desserts and canapé tapas.

Couples in Southwark often marry locally and hold the reception at a venue or garden nearby. Live paella works well at both, as long as there is a ventilated spot to cook. Plan parking and loading early. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, not reheated.

Planning a paella wedding in Southwark

Southwark is about 0 miles north-west of London, in Greater London. Whether your wedding is in the middle of Southwark or on the outskirts, wedding paella catering works the same way: paella cooked live, every diet catered for and a clear quote. Southwark is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover.

If you’re marrying at a church near Southwark, such as Borough Welsh Congregational Chapel or St Mary-at-Hill, a reception in a garden, marquee or hired venue nearby keeps the day flowing: the paella can be cooking while you have photos taken, so the meal is ready when you arrive. Historic houses near Southwark include Mansion House (0.9 miles north) and Dr Johnson's House (1.1 miles north-west). If your reception is at a historic house or estate, ask early about its rules on caterers and live cooking.

For wedding paella catering in SE1 and SE11, we plan around your venue. From Borough Square, Trinity Church Square and Merrick Square or anywhere nearby, we can cook there. Southwark is on the A300 and B240, which makes it straightforward to bring the equipment. We also cook at weddings in Tower Hill (1 mile north-east), City of London (1 mile north), Aldgate (1 mile north-east), Bishopsgate (1 mile north-east) and Barbican Estate (1 mile north). Larger places within reach include City of Westminster (3 miles west), Kensington (5 miles west), Walthamstow (7 miles north-east), Hampstead (5 miles north-west), Ruislip (14 miles west) and Brompton (3 miles west).

A little further out are County of London (1.1 miles north) and Baynard's Castle (0.8 miles north). Green spaces nearby include Ludgate Hill and Bellenden Road Nature Garden.

  • Local schools include London School of Musical Theatre (less than half a mile south-west) and Ark Globe Academy (less than half a mile south-east)
  • Pubs nearby include The Gladstone Arms (within half a mile north-east)
  • Other local spots include The BFI Reuben Library (0.9 miles north-west)

What affects the price in Southwark

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Parking and unloading
  • Your choice of paellas

Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We will send you a quote.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The venue or postcode

To get a price, fill in our quote form. Give us the details of your wedding, and we will suggest paellas and extras to suit.

Live paella or other catering?

If you’re weighing up paella against a traditional menu, consider your venue, diets and the style you want. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

Why us?

  • Drinks service on request
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • No hidden extras in your quote

The process

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. At midsummer, sunset in Southwark is about 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
  2. We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
  4. On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
  5. We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.

How to prepare

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches

How to get a price

Planning help

Before you choose a spot

Before the day, we’ll agree where we cook. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

As a London location, Southwark is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

What we offer

  • Dessert
  • Canapé tapas
  • Table tapas

If speeches or photos run over, tell us, and we will adapt the timing so the paella is served at its best.

Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.

Small bites carried round on boards while guests mingle, perfect during the photos.

Your questions about wedding paella catering in Southwark

Is parking a problem for events in Southwark?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We will work around it.

Can you cook in Little Dorrit's Playground?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

Do you cater for young children?

Of course. Children often love a simple chicken paella. Tell us how many are coming.

Can you feed our photographer and band?

Of course. Include suppliers in your numbers and we’ll plan for them.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

How many different paellas?

Normally two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we’ll suggest the mix.

What areas do you cover?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Southwark.

Can we try the food first?

Tell us you’d like a tasting when you enquire, and we will explain how it works.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
