Wedding paella catering for Barbican Estate events
Should I cook it myself?
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.
DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.
How our wedding paella catering works in Barbican Estate
The smell of saffron and garlic drifting across a garden or barn has everyone looking forward to dinner long before it is served. Typical bookings include informal wedding breakfasts and rustic barn weddings, with table tapas, canapé tapas and a paella wedding breakfast.
Couples in Barbican Estate often marry locally and hold the reception at a venue or garden nearby. Paella suits either, given a ventilated cooking spot. In London, parking and loading need planning early. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included, with each paella cooked in its own pan.

For planners, venues and organisers
Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Barbican Estate? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We will provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
How we price wedding paella catering
Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:
- Guest numbers
- Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- How many staff you need
The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.
What to tell us
These details help us quote quickly:
- Diets and allergies you know about
- The courses you’d like
- A picture of where we’d cook
- Roughly how many adults and children
A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, fill in our quote form.
Step by step
When we arrive, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. For a summer wedding in Barbican Estate, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so an evening paella for evening guests is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.
- You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
- We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
- We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
- We cook live on the day and serve every course on cue.
- We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.
Getting ready for the day
- Name one person we can ask on the day
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking
- Have a level space ready for the pans

Canapé tapas
Small bites carried round on boards while guests mingle, ideal for the drinks reception.
Table tapas
Sharing tapas breaks the ice before the paella arrives.
Paella compared with other options
Live paella is less formal than a plated meal, but with canapés, table tapas and good crockery, it still feels special. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is often good value, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We will send you a quote.
What you get with us
- Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
- Sangria and bar staff available
- Starters and desserts to complete the menu
- No hidden extras in your quote

Your questions about wedding paella catering in Barbican Estate
Can you cater a reception after a service at St Giles-without-Cripplegate?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
Can you cook in Barbican Conservatory?
Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.
How many different paellas?
Generally two or three, so every guest has a choice. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.
How much is live paella catering?
It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote.
Can you cook in the rain?
We need a covered spot, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.
Can you serve tapas as well?
Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.
Do you provide drinks?
Sangria can be added, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.
Do you do canapés and evening food too?
We can. Canapé tapas, table tapas, a paella wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts, or any part of that.
Planning the cooking area
Before the day, we will agree where we cook. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:
- A cooking spot outside the marquee, not inside it
- Parking close enough to carry equipment
- A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
Barbican Estate is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.
