About our wedding paella catering in New Street

The smell of saffron and garlic drifting across a garden or barn gets guests excited about the meal long before it is served. Typical bookings include wedding receptions after a small ceremony and food for evening guests, with table tapas, canapé tapas and Spanish desserts.

Rural weddings around New Street have a magic of their own, and an open-air paella adds to it. Plan access and cover in case of rain. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Catering for every guest

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Book early for summer Saturdays
  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Send us the running order and speech times

If speeches or photos run over, tell us, and we will adjust the cooking so it’s still served fresh.

Table tapas make a sociable starter.

How the day works

The paella is cooked in huge, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. Golden-hour photos in New Street at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:00pm.

  1. We check availability for your date.
  2. You pick the courses and dishes.
  3. We confirm everything with your venue.
  4. Guests watch the paella cook during the reception.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Organising for someone else?

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Common questions in New Street

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Could we have live paella in Trosley Country Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Do you cook it at the event?

It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including New Street.

Is paella smart enough for a wedding?

It can be as relaxed or as polished as you like, depending on presentation and service.

Can you cater for children?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is normally popular with children. Include children in your numbers.

How many paellas should we have?

Typically two or three, so every guest has a choice. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we’ll suggest the mix.

Do you do canapés and evening food too?

Any part of the day, or all of it, from canapés to evening food.

Prices and what affects them

There are no hidden charges: the quote reflects:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • The length of service
  • How many staff you need

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, along with staff, extras and travel. We quote for each event individually.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • A picture of the space, if you can
  • What the venue already provides

It is easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote.

Space, weather and the venue

We will be honest if a space will not work. What matters most:

  • A cooking spot outside the marquee, not inside it
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Level ground for the pans and burners

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think.
