New Street: your questions answered

We are having a ceremony at Church of Saint Peter: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking usually happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you come out to small places like New Street?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you provide serving staff?

We can provide staff. Canapés need staff to carry them round.

Where do you cater?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including New Street.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Of course. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.

Can you serve drinks?

Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

Can you supply plates?

If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

What does tapas catering cost?

It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Send us the details for a quote.

Choosing a paella caterer

Is live paella right for your event?

A plated starter needs a kitchen and staff. Table tapas are relaxed and sociable. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why us?

  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • We cover New Street and the whole of Kent
  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks

Step by step

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is served at its best. Evening receptions in New Street stay light until about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. Tell us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish the hot dishes.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We pack down when service ends.

How to prepare

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable

Planning help

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

For event organisers in New Street

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

What we need at the venue

We’ll be honest if a space won’t work. What matters most:

  • A suitable spot to finish hot tapas
  • Room for a tapas table
  • Parking near the venue

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
