Planning an event in Hadley?
How it works
Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we hold the paella at the right stage so it is still served fresh. At midsummer, sunset in Hadley is about 9:20pm, so we can time the evening paella around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.
- Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
- We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
- Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
- On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
- Afterwards we clear our area; any staff you’ve booked stay as planned.
Getting ready for the day
- Arrange parking near the cooking spot
- Share the running order, including any speeches

Organising for someone else?
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.
For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
Diets, allergies and planning
Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:
- Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
- Collect dietary needs on the RSVP
- Choose pan-side or table service
- Introduce us to your venue coordinator
The pans are often set up where guests can see them, and it makes a great photo.
We can provide crockery and waiting staff if your venue doesn’t.
Should I cook it myself?
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.
Live paella or other catering?
Plated wedding meals need a kitchen and more staff. Paella needs a level, ventilated spot and permission, and suits a relaxed style. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.
Why us?

Space, weather and the venue
Before the day, we’ll agree where we cook. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:
- Somewhere close to park and unload
- A safe distance from anything that could catch
- Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
Hadley is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

Hadley: your questions answered
Can you cater a reception after a service at Christ Church?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.
Can you cook in King George's Fields (Monken Hadley)?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.
Is the paella gluten-free?
We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.
How long do you need on site?
We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.
Do you offer halal options?
Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and we will cook a separate pan.
Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
Of course. Vegetarian and vegan paellas are cooked in separate pans, alongside the meat and seafood pans.
What space do you need to cook?
A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.
Do you come to Hadley?
Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Hadley and the rest of Greater London. For a quote, use our quote form.
