How our wedding paella catering works in Five Wents
We plan the wedding menu with you, course by course, to suit your guests, venue and budget. Whether it is parties after a register office wedding and weddings in a marquee or garden, we will put together a menu of table tapas, evening paella and canapé tapas.
Near Five Wents, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. Live paella is made for that: no kitchen, just a level, sheltered spot. Let us know about access and ground. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so one booking can cover the whole menu.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Food vans can create long queues. Paella pans serve many guests quickly. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Questions from Five Wents
Which station should guests use for Five Wents?
Hollingbourne station, about 3 miles north-east of the centre.
Is Five Wents too small for live paella?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.
Do you cater for young children?
Of course. A simple chicken paella is generally popular with children. Tell us how many are coming.
What if the weather’s bad?
A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We’ll make a plan B with you.
When should we book?
Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.
How long do you need on site?
That depends on your menu and numbers. We agree the timings in advance so the paella is ready when you want it.
Will you talk to our venue?
Of course. We’ll speak to your venue about access and timings.
Can we try the food first?
Ask us when you enquire and we will explain the options.

The process
Watching it cook is half the fun. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. In Five Wents, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is typically served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:50pm in December, plan lighting for the cooking area.
- Send us your wedding date, venue and numbers.
- We plan your menu course by course.
- We agree timings with you and your venue.
- On the day, we cook and serve each course.
- We clear our area; staff stay as booked.
Getting ready for the day
