Step by step
On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. At midsummer, it is light in Way until about 9:15pm, ideal for tapas in the garden. In late September, sunset is about 7:00pm; winter receptions, dark by 3:50pm, are better indoors.

Way questions
What’s the nearest station to Way for guests?
Minster station, about 0.9 miles south-west of the centre.
What about events near the coast?
Yes, with a sheltered cooking spot. Sea breezes cool the pan, so a windbreak, building or gazebo helps.
Do you cook inside?
Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we will check with you and the venue.
Can you bring crockery?
If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables are available.
Do you have a kids’ option?
Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan for them.
Do you do vegan paella?
Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.
What about pudding?
Yes. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.
Who clears up?
We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.
What we need at the venue
If a space is not suitable, we will tell you. What matters most:
- Room for a tapas table
- Permission from the venue
- Space to finish hot dishes
If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think before booking.

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Way? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Give us the details and we will suggest a plan.
Live paella or other catering?
Tapas can be a starter, a reception or the whole meal, which makes them easy to plan around. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.
