Tapas catering in The Pound

About our tapas catering in The Pound

Tapas suit drinks receptions, evening parties, office events and weddings. For office parties and launches and anniversary parties, we can cook albóndigas, croquetas and gambas al ajillo.

In a rural spot like The Pound, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

What tapas catering costs

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • The length of service
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Parking and unloading

There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What we need to know

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The date and rough timings
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field

Your questions about tapas catering in The Pound

What’s the nearest station to The Pound for guests?

Battle station, about 4.5 miles east of the centre.

Do you cater in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.

How soon do we need to book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates book up first, so contact us early.

Can you do sangria?

Sangria can be added, and we can staff a bar with your drinks.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.

What does tapas catering cost?

It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes, and it is a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Do you do vegan paella?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Catering for every guest

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Add sangria or cava
  • Book staff to carry canapés round
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies
  • Ask for labels on each dish

Canapés go round with the drinks as guests arrive.

Churros or crema catalana to finish.

12 questions to ask before booking

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. We take care of all of it.

Why choose live paella in The Pound?

For food that gets people mingling, tapas work brilliantly. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Why book with us

  • Everything cooked fresh at your event
  • Food that becomes part of the entertainment
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan

How it works

Here’s how the day usually runs: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, the rice cooks in front of your guests, and we serve straight from the pan when you’re ready to eat. Evening receptions in The Pound stay light until about 8:50pm in late May and 9:15pm in late June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
  3. We set up on arrival.
  4. Hot and cold tapas are served.
  5. We clear away at the end.

Before we arrive

  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
