Crofton questions
Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.
Could we have live paella in Jubilee Country Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.
Do you do tapas on their own?
Yes. Tapas can be booked without paella.
Where do you cater?
We cover London and the South East, Greater London included. See all areas.
How long do you need on site?
We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.
Is the paella gluten-free?
A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.
How much space do you need?
Not a lot: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a picture if you’re not sure.
Do we need staff for canapés?
We can provide staff. Canapés need staff to serve.
DIY paella versus live catering
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
The process
On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. A summer drinks reception in Crofton has daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.

How we price tapas catering
Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:
- The length of service
- Your choice of paellas
- Distance and access to the venue
- Guest numbers
There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.
What we need to know
When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:
- Any dietary needs and allergies
- Expected numbers
- Your date and when you want to eat
- A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. When you’re ready, use our quote form.
Why live cooking beats a buffet
Tapas are flexible, so they fit most plans. The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.
